In 1971, the Indian Air Force (IAF) captures Pakistani pilot Ahmed Hussain, who is then treated as a prisoner of war by Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja. During their conversation, Om learns that Ahmed was part of the 1965 war. Even though Pakistan lost the war, Ahmed was awarded a gallantry honour. When Om questions him about it, Ahmed reveals that he received the award for eliminating an Indian soldier.
Hearing this, Om’s mind takes him six years back to the battlefield, when he was leading a team of highly skilled pilots, including T Vijaya (Tabby)—a pilot he shared a deep emotional bond with. Vijaya was one of the best fighter pilots, but he had a reputation for breaking war protocols.
Meanwhile, Pakistan strategises a massive air strike on India, using modernised fighter planes, against which India’s aircraft seem incapable of sustaining an attack. Om analyses all possible defence strategies, but he is denied permission to launch a preemptive strike. Soon after, Pakistan destroys an Indian air base, forcing the government to plan a secret air strike on Pakistan.
During this critical mission, Vijaya is kept on standby, as he is known for his tendency to disobey protocols. However, after Om and his team successfully destroy the Pakistani air base and return, he realises that Vijaya is missing. Once again, he had broken protocol and ventured out to support his team. Since that day, Vijaya has been declared missing and later presumed dead.
Back in the present day, Om receives a crucial hint from Ahmed, leading him to believe that Vijaya might still be alive. With whatever little information he has, Om puts forth his case before an Inquiry Committee, hoping to trace Vijaya. Unfortunately, due to lack of concrete evidence, his plea is dismissed.
Now, the biggest question remains—is Vijaya truly alive? And if he is, will Om be able to find him?
