Mini Fortuner by Toyota – Toyota is reportedly working on a smaller version of its popular Fortuner SUV, informally referred to as the “Mini Fortuner.” Designed to combine the rugged DNA of the full-size Fortuner with a more compact and urban-friendly form, this new model aims to attract customers who want tough looks and SUV practicality without the bulk.

Platform and Dimensions – Mini Fortuner by Toyota
Unlike the Fortuner’s traditional ladder-frame chassis, the Mini Fortuner is expected to be built on a monocoque platform, possibly a modified TNGA-C or IMV-0 architecture. This would improve on-road comfort and handling, making it more suitable for city use. In terms of dimensions, the SUV is expected to be around 4.4 to 4.5 meters long with a wheelbase close to 2,600–2,700 mm. Its exterior styling will likely be inspired by the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the Fortuner, featuring a bold grille, high ground clearance, squared-off wheel arches, and a muscular stance.
Engine and Powertrain Options – Mini Fortuner by Toyota
The engine options for the Mini Fortuner may include a 2.0-liter petrol engine paired with Toyota’s strong hybrid system, similar to the one used in the Innova Hycross. This setup could deliver a combined output of around 180–190 bhp with impressive fuel efficiency. Toyota might also offer petrol-only versions with larger engines like a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated petrol unit. Diesel variants could be available in global markets, though they are less likely for India. In the long run, a fully electric variant is also a possibility.
Competition and Pricing -Mini Fortuner by Toyota
The Mini Fortuner is expected to compete with SUVs like the Mahindra Scorpio-N, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and MG Hector. In terms of pricing, the vehicle could start around ₹12–15 lakh for base variants and go up to ₹20–27 lakh for higher trims. This would place it in a unique position between the compact and premium mid-size SUV segments.

Expected Features
Feature-wise, the Mini Fortuner could include a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, wireless charging, a digital instrument cluster, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, traction control, and possibly even ADAS features like lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control on higher trims. Toyota Safety Sense may also be introduced in some variants, enhancing the SUV’s appeal in safety-conscious markets.
Launch Timeline -Mini Fortuner by Toyota
Globally, the vehicle is expected to debut in Thailand by late 2024, followed by launches in other Asian markets. For India, the Mini Fortuner may enter production around 2027 at Toyota’s facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
