Electric Vehicle (EV) sales rise 28.6% in June

Electric Vehicle (EV) sales rise 28.6% in June; electric passenger vehicles (e-PVs), commercial vehicles (CVs) lead growth: Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Associations (FADA).

Data made available by the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Associations (FADA) revealed a 28.60% year-over-year rise in total sales of electric vehicles (EVs) in June 2025. President of FADA Mr. C.S. Vigneshwar credited favorable government programs, especially the Prime Minister eDrive Scheme, and a spike in home investments targeting EV innovation for this expansion.

Rising consumer awareness and the development of charging networks, he observed, are assisting to match India’s EV change with its general climate and energy security goals.

Electric Vehicle (EV) sales

Driven by strong expansion in electric passenger cars (e PVs) and consistent demand throughout the two-wheeler, three-wheeler, and commercial vehicle categories, June 2025 saw sales of 1,80,238 EV units.

Electric Vehicle (EV) sales – Sales of EPV almost doubled to 13,178 units, an increase of 79.95% from 7,323 units in June 2024. Their portion of all EV sales climbed to 4.4% from 2.5%. With 1,05,355 units, electric two wheeler sales increased 31.69% year over year, therefore grabbing 7.3% of the two wheeler market.

With 60,559 units sold, up 15.79%, electric three wheelers still led EV sales, accounting for 60.2% of the EV sector. Though lower in volume, the electric commercial vehicle segment saw the most yearly growth of 122.5%. In June 2025, total car retail sales passed two million units, 5% more than those in June 2024.

Passenger Electric Vehicles See Massive Uptick

Leading the charge were electric passenger vehicles (e-PVs), which posted a 79.9% growth compared to June last year. A total of 13,178 e-PVs were sold, with their share rising from 2.5% to 4.4% of overall EV sales. New model launches, improved infrastructure, and rising consumer trust contributed to this spike.
