Camouflaged Cayenne Electric – Global testing of the freshly launched Porsche Cayenne is currently underway. Porsche showed a glimpse of the Cayenne Electric’s high levels of usability and sent a near production prototype on a record-gathering trip as part of the finetuning of its second allelectric SUV.
For over 20 years, the Camouflaged Cayenne Electric has stood apart for its remarkable adaptability. Building on this, the allelectric edition will outperform previous models in terms of performance, everyday usability, longdistance comfort, and offroad adaptability.
Porsche unveiled a first taste of this in a film production in England well ahead of the Camouflaged Cayenne Electric market debut.

Accuracy and stability for a fresh record
Porsche showed the high-performance potential of its next allelectric SUV at a famous site: A near-production prototype was participating in a filming effort at the Shelsley Walsh hill climb, which has been operating since 1905 and is hence among the oldest motorsport events globally, socializing with competitors in the British Hillclimb Championship.
Gabriela Jílková, simulator and development driver for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, drove the camouflaged Cayenne Electric up the asphalt hill, which is only three and a half metres wide in places, has a steep gradient of up to 16.7 per cent and totals 1,000 yards (914 metres) in length.
She accomplished this successfully: on her first try, Jílková crushed the previous record time for a Sport Utility Vehicle by more than four seconds.

Later she remarked, “The course is difficult and unforgiving. “There is not much room for correction and no runoff zones. But the active suspension of the new Cayenne gives it great stability and accuracy. I always felt quite certain.
Porsche Active Ride, which will be available in the SUV soon, was installed in the Cayenne Electric. Through a balanced distribution of wheel loads, the active chassis guarantees perfect contact to the road and keeps the body level at all times, even during dynamic braking, steering, and acceleration procedures.
“Porsche Active Ride drastically increases the range between driving dynamics and ride comfort in the new Cayenne,” states Michael Schätzle, Vice President, Product Line Cayenne.

Apart from the record time of 31.28 seconds, Shelsley Walsh was stirred by another figure: After only 1.94 seconds, the first measuring point—60 feet (18,3 metres) beyond the starting line—was reached.
Only singleseater racing cars with slick tyres built specifically for this purpose managed this feat at the event, and it gives an idea of the exceptional accelerative performance of Porsche’s new allelectric SUV, which was fitted with conventional summer tyres.
Ahead of its market debut, Schätzle guarantees that the Cayenne Electric’s final tuning is still in full swing; however, the drive power and equipment of the record breaking car were already at production level.
